Background Development

Over the Christmas holidays I focused on drawing the backgrounds for my animation, and taking extra planning ready for the final two weeks after the holidays.
Once I had drawn them all in pencil, I scanned them in and coloured them on Photoshop.

I think the painted, sketchy effect makes the image come alive, yet it's simple and looks complete. On this particular background I think the different shades on the trees work, since it's giving more texture to the image.

In order for my whole animation to look good I need to make my characters stand out; I can do this by colouring them in lighter or bolder shades.
